Professional Background
Jarryd joined the CharterLaw team in November 2022 as a Senior Legal Practitioner. He was admitted as a solicitor by the Supreme Court of Victoria in 2014, and has practiced in New South Wales since 2016.
Prior to joining CharterLaw , Jarryd acquired approximately 8 years of professional experience, practisting primarily practised in commercial litigation, dispute resolution and insolvency as a part of teams in Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra. He has worked on matters in the superior courts of NSW, Victoria, ACT and the Commonwealth, as well as various tribunals. He has the sole carriage of or leads a team on the majority of his matters. He regularly appears for his clients in court and tribunal hearings, including without the assistance of counsel.
Jarryd has experience in other areas of law and understands the cross-over between the various fields. He regularly acts in large and complex multi-party litigation and has also conducted a number of high-profile proceedings. He applies a high degree of empathy in managing his matters, and speaks to his clients at their level of legal sophistication in superior courts. Jarryd’s business sense and strategic outlook combine well with his well-presented advice, meaning he invariably achieves positive and practical results for his clients.
Professional Qualifications
Jarryd holds a Bachelor of Commerce, with majors in Economics and International Trade and Economic Policy, and a Bachelor of Laws from Deakin University. He completed his Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice at the Australian National University.
Jarryd is a Graduate Subscriber of ARITA (the Australian Restructuring, Insolvency and Turnaround Association), completing the ARITA Advanced Certification in Insolvency and Restructuring through the UTS (University of Technology Sydney).
Jarryd is a member of the Law Council of Australia – Business Law Section.
Current Practice
Jarryd’s work primarily focusses on commercial disputes and insolvency, primarily involving: taxation disputes, trusts and trustees, corporate insolvency, bankruptcy, debt recovery, directors’ duties, shareholder disputes and oppression claims, guarantees, business contracts and leases.
